CLAYTON CALVERT

Clayton Calvert is a painter, sculptor, and installation artist. His artistic practice explores the relationship between representation and abstraction. His process distills the essential elements of experiences into a distinct visual language. He is particularly interested in the fleeting nature of experience and how to translate that into something more permanent. Calvert uses carefully selected materials when creating his art and he is a proponent of all kinds of mixed media. His paintings, sculptures and installations capture moments in time that are characteristic of his experiences. Calvert's art is a testament to the tactile power of material, color, texture, and form.

Calvert studied with renowned painters Carlo Maria Mariani and John Foote as well as with esteemed sculptor Thomas Lollar. He attended Bard High School Early College '05 and is an alumnus of The George Washington University '08. Calvert's various projects have led to exhibitions around the world and his work can be found in numerous private as well as corporate collections.
