Following the success of her last show at Gerald Bland, we are pleased to present new work from Leora Armstrong. Broken Lines will be on view from June 10th.
From the artist: “The work has evolved around the issues of external light and reflection, working with edges or fields of colour using various media. The reductive landscapes with minimized colour, allow the viewer to experience the work as a sensed encounter of a place, sometimes it maybe just a memory. Much of the current work is with Graphite which I love to work with, for both is looseness and density. Trying to take a colour to its darkest form and yet also keeping the lightness too, is an interesting game of balance.
There is a continual search into the memory of something lost, keeping a hint of the underneath without actually revealing what it is. The circles and lines are a tracing of life with no beginning and no end, continually moving.”
Available works can be seen under the Represented Artists tab at right.
